Balloon flower blossoms open

They opened after my lunch break at 2 and before 5 when I got off work. :)

Hot and dry again today. A bit if a breeze but not windy. Humidity was 64% at 6am.  By noon  17%.  At least the swamp cooler helped us make the best of it inside the house.

The first zinnia opening over the course of several days.

The first sunflowers we planted also have big fat buds...

There has been water in the ditch in the evenings pretty consistently, so every other night I run it to the water the sunchokes and cool off the hens.  We are profoundly grateful for it.  The drought seasons a few years ago were excruciating.  Should look for the figures, but I am pretty sure there has been solid rainfall in all sides of us, some of which makes its way downhill to us. Our neighbors’ good fortune is our own.

~Note - (6 July 2020) Gloria says she read that they were going to shut off the ditches to restore water to the Rio Grande.  That is is dry in places.  Definitely need to go look for more information. :(
