Farewell Flavia (May 2013-10 December 2018)

After about two days of clearing not feeling well (not eating, isolating herself, wings drooping, standing hunched and occasionally shivering), Flavia died late Sunday night or early Monday morning.  Our hearts are broken.  She was such a character.  We will miss her terribly.

She had a very rough patch (when?).  Quite some time ago, where we were sure we were losing her.  Gloria sent out a note on the backyard chicken keepers list asking if anyone would be willing to perform humane euthanasia.  She ended up speaking with a woman who has a sewing business, who employs someone from Bolivia 6 months out of every year.  Her seamstress came over.  I picked Flavia up and carried her out.  She poked her a little, and said, 'I no kill your chicken.' And implied she was broody.  I now suspect that she was suffering from fatty liver disease.  Maybe I but back on the sunflower seeds for awhile?  She got better.  And had many more days.  :)

AND she had a great life.  And was dearly loved and enjoyed.
