Frost on the windshield: Observation log
January 25th
2 yards of premium silver brocade
January 26th
A scattering of silver-white star confetti tossed
like so much rice after a wedding.
January 27th
Smooth basecoat--sprayed on,
applied in an even sweeping motion: professional quality.
Later spoiled with a casual littering of rock salt
ruining the overall composition.
January 27th (A second look)
Careful work with the chisel and pick cracks open a geode
to reveal nothing much, at least not to the naked eye.
A few glinting bits rising from a frozen seabed of microscopic siblings.
Like an oyster with a tiny unformed pearl, and too late to throw it back.
